Yesterday the “Dow” fell almost 300 points reaching a 12 year low of 6,763. Some of you might not even know what the Dow is and some that do know might not care. The rest of you that have mutual funds, 401k’s and investments know that your loosing money, and fast. So what do these numbers mean to you, and how do they effect your life?
My purpose for talking about all this stuff is not to get you scared or create fear. This information is to educate you so you can make the best decisions and be prepared for what lies ahead. You know your teeth will rot and fall out if you don’t brush them. So everyday we brush our teeth, “preventative maintenance”. Are you fearful of loosing your teeth on a daily basis? No, you just brush and go. The same applies to all this stuff going on in the economy. You can create a lot of fear about it, and watch your money go down the tubes; or you can do some preventative maintenance, use the knowledge of the professionals, do the best you can, and then go about your day and enjoy life. The shift of 2012 has been known about for well over a thousand years! The current economic restructuring is small news and is only a distraction from the big picture.
Referring back to my previous posts, February 2008, What is going to happen in 2012? and October 2008 Can you handle the truth?. In both of these posts I stated that there are major changes taking place, and the governments and companies that are controlling or enslaving the people will start to fall. Do you consider being in debt “slavery”? Well it is. The bible even makes reference to this in Proverbs 22.7 “The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender”. If you have debt, and that includes car and mortgage loans you are in slavery. You are slave to the lender. Some of you may think I’m going over the top here, but I’m simply telling you like it is. The reason why we are in this financial situation is because of “debt”. Everyone has too much debt.
So imagine that you had no debt, no payments. Would there be all of the foreclosures or small companies closing their doors? No, everyone would be weathering the shift much easier. Also if you did loose your job, you would not have the incredible pressure of all those payments hanging over your head.
We have been living in a consumerism dream world. Where everyone thinks that they have to buy the biggest house, nicest car, latest and greatest computers, simply because everyone else does. The majority of the population has lost focus and that is also why we are in this situation.
Over the last 6 months we have seen the government spending billions of dollars trying to keep the banking industry afloat. All they are doing is “patching” the problem not fixing it. The longer the government try’s to patch everything instead of restructuring, the stock market and the economy will continue to fall. The companies and industries that are struggling need to be allowed to fail. So everyone can learn, and grow.
Everything that is going on with the banking industry and economy has never happened before. It is similar to the great depression but is different in many ways. They are no books to read, everyone is learning as we go. For an unbiased look at everything, I watch Mad Money with Jim Cramer on CNBC every night.
So what can you do? First off I would evaluate your financial situation and put it all on paper. Pay off as much debt as you can and preserve your cash. Try to build up an emergency fund with at least 3 to 6 months of cash for expenses. Put your cash in money market accounts, cd’s, and gold. My wife and I are currently going through Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University“. It is a 13 week course, and I suggest it to anyone, even if you have no debt. I will be doing a full review of Financial Peace University once we finish the course.
The stock market and the economy will continue to tank until everyone wakes up and things get restructured the way they are supposed to. Giving the power to the people, not the greedy companies.
So why would a person that teaches “spiritual awareness” talk about the stock market and economy? The answer is simple, “self mastery”. In order to master the unseen world we have to first master the one right in front of us. This would include money, relationships, and our physical body. In order to be a true master you have to be aligned with all aspects of your life and on all levels. It’s not about mediating every day and living in the clouds. It’s about mastering your life in every way possible. Take the time to learn what is going on around you, and don’t have any fear. It is as simple as brushing your teeth.
Until next time, peace & love,
Joe
